Last night July was moved to active status. Hospice will be here daily with us at home. In the last 3 days he has lost his ability to speak, eat, and use the left side of his body. His swallowing is limited, challenging, and even comes and goes. With more mucosal secretions (a normal thing that happens in the end stages of life), he has a gurgling cough and his breathing is noisy. We’re not yet seeing his breathing slow down or apnea events, but it’s expected to happen at some point. And his heart rate has slowed some, but that can also be due to the morphine and haloperidol he gets on a regular routine.
We have had a lot of visitors this week and expect that to continue through the next few days. We have a visit from Iron Man planned for Saturday so we hope he’s feeling well enough to enjoy that a little.
We still focus on getting a few laughs each day, and if July starts to get sad, we emphasize with him, comfort him and encourage him to have hope in feeling good soon.
Pray for:
Complete and total healing.
July’s comfort and peace, and that is suffering will be over soon.
Kevin, Kolter and I to cleave to God’s truth and have peace in July’s departure from this world.

Please pray for a young boy in Rutherford County, TN. Asher Sullivan was swept into a storm drain last week and is fighting for his life. The prognosis is not good, but we know God is a miracle worker. He is so very very sick. He needs all the prayers he can get. Please join me in praying for Asher Sullivan. “Asher had a really really rough night. Neurological signs we were seeing as positives have stopped. He had some real tough moments with pulse, blood pressure, and breathing. MRI shows part of the brain herniating into his brain stem, and severe damage to just about all areas of his brain. Despite what we were seeing with Asher each moment, we still were hoping against all odds. Unfortunately, the worst case scenarios seemed to have come true.
He’s not in imminent danger at this very moment, but recovery does not seem possible. Kaycee and I have some impossible decisions to make in the next few days that no parents should have to face. Please pray for our family and our sweet Asher.”
