I'm noticing an archetype of artist who is outraged at the emergence of GenAI because it upset their ability to tyrannize and engage in petty displays of dominance over their commissioners.
You deserve this.
SUPPORTING HUMAN ARTISTS DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE ALL PERFECT! If someone takes your money, ghosts you, or fails to deliver, that's unprofessional, and you are allowed to be upset.
BUT let's not pretend that being mistreated by some artists justifies turning to generative AI.
You're entitled to find another solution, just as artists are entitled to refuse commissions if they don't want to work with someone who uses generative AI.
You can criticize unreliable artists without dismissing the concerns of artists who oppose AI.
The problem isn't that artists are driving customers toward AI! The problem is treating generative AI as a solution to a problem that deserves to be addressed.
@IAMROLLES@EcoEclipse@bicikliszelep Can respect it. I guess what I'm trying to say is: a lot of the AI content out there IS slop, and I wish more artists like you would give it a try in your workflows because you could easily produce content that's 10x the quality of anything out there.
โSupport real artists! Donโt use AI!โ
I DID. I spent THOUSANDS commissioning artists who took my money, ghosted me for months, and spent their time pumping out adoptables and YCHs instead of delivering my artwork.
So I used AI to finish what they wouldn't.
Now other artists refuse my money because I've used AI.
You told me to support artists. I DID. You took my money, wasted my time, and now shame me for finding an alternative.
You're not fighting AI. You're driving paying customers straight into its arms.
@IAMROLLES@EcoEclipse@bicikliszelep Bc there's many people who would love to get into animation but can't because they don't have the time or $$$. Using AI in a frame-interpolative manner like I described could take a 1 year project and turn it into a 1 month project: now you only need to draw 1/10th the frames.
@IAMROLLES@EcoEclipse@bicikliszelep ...that using AI to assist you in the creative process doesn't literally have to be "type words, get image out"...it can be so much more complex than that, and still heavily guided by the human touch.
@IAMROLLES@EcoEclipse@bicikliszelep ...but with AI to help fill in the gaps, something that would have required an entire studio previously is now achievable by a solo artist. This is a big deal, and in no way does it devalue the contribution of the artist themselves. I simply wish more artists would appreciate...
@EcoEclipse@bicikliszelep I would encourage you then to better understand the objections that you're making.
My original idea was more along the lines of drawing reference frames (one every 1-3s) and then having AI fill in the gaps, or shade finish frames based on your guidance. This is absolutely art.
Dude, I AM an artist. I've been drawing since long before AI existed.
Nobody's struggling to understand you. You're struggling to accept that using AI doesn't automatically make someone lazy or uncreative.
You know NOTHING about the people you're insulting. That's a piss-poor argument.
@liboar@ModDogHQ More power to you if you find meaning in inconvenience. However, you must understand that the overwhelming majority of consumers do not care, they only care about the output.
