Education reaches the poor and teaches them to count what they lack. A dangerous curriculum. Pink Floyd diagnosed it first. He was right, though for a richer reason than he knew.
"Turn the other cheek" sounds saintly, but pure dove strategies are suicidal when hawks roam. Jesus would have had to be a complete idiot to teach this as a timeless ethic. Like the Torah before him, he upheld "an eye for an eye" as a principle of proportional justice.
The pacifist inversion that would culminate in the myth of Jesus's crucifixion was the work of a persecuted minority and opportunistic leadership factions — Paul chief among them — who saw the short-term memetic utility of a covert dove strategy to safeguard proselytism under Roman rule. (Nietzsche believed this ethic originated with Jesus himself, but his analysis in The Antichrist was a psychological study of the "Savior type" Christianity constructed. His portrayal of Jesus the man as a present-focused revolutionary was not intended as a historical account; the Qur'anic narrative corrects the historicity and holds the ethic was falsely attributed to him after the fact.)
The strategy made sense at the time. Early Christians were a marginal, colonized community. Open retaliation would have triggered annihilation, so meekness was elevated as a survival tactic. Once Christianity gained leverage, it betrayed the ethic, or hypocritically retained it as a posture even as it crusaded and imperialized (as the USA still does). Nietzsche would later write that there was only ever one Christian — that Christianity itself is a misunderstanding, a complete inversion of everything Jesus lived. On this account, he was right.
The distortions multiplied. God was split into three and anthropomorphized, though He is beyond all analogy and begets no offspring. He was then castrated into a purely "good god", no longer capable of punishing. Free will was reified to make others morally responsible and punishable by men, denying that human will itself unfolds within divine will. Original sin was invented, tainting people by birth and stripping children of their natural innocence. Monastic asceticism was glorified instead of keeping balance with worldly life. Deeds were sidelined in favor of creedal adhesion: the idea took hold that simply declaring "Jesus is King" was enough to guarantee paradise. Christianity turned weakness into a virtue, condemned strength, and made suffering a currency for moral superiority. This was the Christian inversion.
These corruptions made a new prophet necessary: one who would restore uncompromised monotheism, reaffirm justice and mercy in balance, ground accountability in deeds and sincerity rather than inherited guilt or slogans, and re-establish a game-theoretically optimal tit-for-tat ethic — tempered by unpredictable proactive pardons — capable of avoiding death spirals and surviving at every rung of the power ladder.
Slap anyone still clinging to the inversion and watch their ethic collapse.
