New Syrian Laws Banning Speech

The Syrian government has issued six new laws that ban certain kinds of speech

1. Defamation,
2. Classified material
3. Stirring up hatred of religions, faiths, and religious symbols
4. Incitement between citizens
5. Fake news and misleading content
6. Material offending public morals and ethics

The laws are defined broadly, such as "offending public morality" or spreading "rumours," "disclosing state secrets," "Defamation."

Judges will be able to punish most anything.
