1700s: the engine of the farm. The ox that pulled the plough that fed the town.

1950s: the pride of the parish. The Sunday roast. The milk in every school.

1977: a source of the saturated fat we have decided to fear.

2010s: an environmental emergency on four legs.

2030: a taxable event.

The cow did the identical thing across all of it. Ate grass. Made food. Improved the field.

The only variable was who stood to gain by telling you how to feel about it.

Digital “purchases” suck.

With news that Sony PlayStation owners will be losing access to hundreds of “purchased” movies, now is a good time to remember that almost all “purchased” video games can be ripped away from you at a moment’s notice.

Unless you own a physical copy of the game… and that game does not require verification on any server… then you WILL lose access to it at some point.

Maybe the game company will simply take away your access.

Or maybe the game company (or game store) will shut down completely. Because no company lasts forever.

Either way, enjoy your games now. Because you never know when you’ll lose them.

And definitely don’t plan on being able to play those games with your grandkids.

To all the game companies who made this reality happen:

You suck.
