Introducing our next Research Grants Scheme, Opening 2 June – Care close to home, in and out of hours
💡Our new call for research seeks to fund projects of up to £150K. The theme closely aligns with:
👉Marie Curie’s mission to close the gap in end of life care.
👉Evidence gaps and research priorities identified by people with lived and professional experience.
👉The UK Government’s focus of shifting the balance of care from hospital to community and providing care at all hours.
Researchers, find out more and submit your expression of interest from 2 June to 17 July - https://t.co/PwfzXeScyj
What an honour. Today I was awarded the @EAPCvzw Post-doctoral Researcher Award prize.
It was a great opportunity to talk about my research on prognostication. Celebrate my colleagues. And highlight systemic challenges researchers face.

"No end‑of‑life decision happens in a vacuum. Choices are shaped by many things, and sometimes these are inequality, unmet need, patchy palliative care, and the grinding pressures of an overstretched NHS."

We know that some people already avoid contact with palliative care because they suspect it's what will happen, even though it doesn't.
That is unequally distributed. People in some marginalised groups are far more likely to suspect health teams, like any form of authority.
Are you an unpaid carer who has sight loss?
Researchers at Centre for Visions Services would like to talk to unpaid carers living with sight loss so they can understand the realities of it to develop a study.

Today we are publishing our first ever position statement on menopause and mental health. A lack of understanding means too many women are missing out on vital support when they need it most. #MenopauseAndMentalHealth

Filibustering tends to be one individual speaking for hours on end. Does not look like that. Useful corrective on the '6 Peers are blocking it' narrative. I think many people opposing this Bill would accept a different version of Assisted Dying to the one put forward in this PMB

In February 2025, a refresh of the palliative and end of life care research priorities, guided by people with lived and professional experience, was launched. Recognising the importance of these priorities, the NIHR have a rolling call of funding which they invite research proposals related to selected priorities.
Join speakers from the NIHR and Marie Curie who will outline the process behind the top 24 research priorities, discuss why each priority was selected by the NIHR and provide an overview of the NIHR programmes participating in the rolling call. There will be plenty of time for discussion about the priorities and the research funding process.
Why does Wales need a Governance & Assurance Framework for Palliative Care? How will it ensure we deliver on our national Service Specification? Some of the questions we will answer at our G&A workshop today @PallCareCymru@BakerIdris
The most significant changes to UK clinical trial regulations in 20 years take effect April 2026.
