Maja Chwalinska on why the mental aspect of tennis is so tough to deal with, ‘We are kids when we start, & then we are teenagers. People expect us to behave like adults already. We’re just kids really…People can judge us however they want in this day & age’
“Mirra talked about the demons in her head and the mental aspect of the game and how her psychologist helped her… I know you’ve also had issues with the mental aspect of the game. Is it something all the top tennis players deal with? Why is it such a mental game?”
Maja: “Well I guess you need to ask them. I can’t speak on their behalf. But I feel like tennis is such a tough sport. It’s so individual. We start so early. We are basically kids when we start.. And then we are teenagers. People are expecting that we’re gonna behave like adults already. We’re just kids really. The pressure is huge because every match we are kind of exposed. People can judge us however they want in this day and age. You can write anything on the internet. I feel like it’s very challenging. You just gotta protect yourself as well as you can.”

Zverev after beating Mensik to reach the Roland Garros final:
"Congratulations. That was a terrific performance. You're back into the final. You have your mom, your dad, your brother and your grandmother here. What does this moment mean to you?"
Sascha: "Not much at the moment. We still have a match to play on Sunday and that's what we're here for that's what we're focusing on. I want to play the best possible match and just focus on that."
"You've only lost 2 sets getting into the final. What are you most proud about not just today but throughout these last 2 weeks?"
Sascha: "I've always found a way even when things got difficult. I feel like today Jakub starting playing amazing tennis in the 3rd set and I found a way straight away in the 4th set. Today definitely was the toughest challenge. He played some amazing tennis throughout the entire 2 weeks. I'm happy with the win for sure."
