What made the original Halo aesthetic so believable was that its artists grounded its fictional designs in real-world military hardware and engineering. Even though Halo takes place centuries in the future, its equipment still looked like it was designed by people who understood manufacturing, logistics, reliability, maintainability, and practicality. That attention to engineering detail is what gave Halo its unique visual identity and made the universe feel authentic

This redesign abandons those principles in favor of a generic “sci-fi” look. On its own, it’s just an ammo container. But taken alongside countless other design changes over the years, it represents a gradual erosion of one of Halo’s core design pillars

This is how an iconic visual identity dies, not through one massive change, but through hundreds of small decisions made by people who either don’t understand or don’t value what made the original design language so compelling in the first place. Death by a thousand cuts

Kalidou Koulibaly spoke about the racism he has faced throughout his football career in an interview that resurfaced during the #2026WorldCup.

The Senegalese defender said he grew up in a multicultural neighborhood in France, where religion and skin color were never a source of division. He described the neighborhood as being “like the World Cup every day.”

Koulibaly said he first experienced systematic racist abuse during an away match against Lazio while playing for Napoli, with monkey noises directed at him every time he touched the ball.

He said the referee, Massimiliano Irrati, offered to stop the match, but the moment that affected him most came after the game, when a young boy he gave his shirt to apologized on behalf of the other fans.

Koulibaly also stressed that the problem was not limited to Black players, saying he had also heard Serbian players being called “Gypsies” and Italian players like Lorenzo Insigne being called “dirty Neapolitans.”

He ended the interview by saying:

“I am not just a Black footballer. I am Muslim. I am Senegalese. I am French. I am Neapolitan. I am a father. I have traveled the world and learned many languages. But there are three things in life that money cannot buy: friendship, family and peace. Maybe we are different, but we are all brothers.”
