@Gfilche@wholemars It would be better to just charge by the trip/mile as they plan to for the Tesla Taxi network. You would basically be temporarily adding your car to Tesla’s fleet but just for your own FSD use. If you plan on doing a lot of FSD driving then buy a day/week/month as it makes sense
@Sofiaan@thirdrowtesla@elonmusk@MunroAssociates What about the talked about wiring reduction that was not present in the model Y that Monro took apart? I was surprised that didn’t come up.
Megapack is back again on Sunday! I heard about the huge line yesterday about this time. There was no line when I got here and only 1 or 2 in line while I was charging. I would say the deployment was a success!
@NorbertNor1@Teslarati I am not sure why you say solar panels with batteries have poor efficiencies. Possibly due to, until recently, home storage was done with lead acid batteries which have poor efficiency of around 50%. This is very different in comparison the lithium which has very good efficiency.
@NorbertNor1@Teslarati One is a power (kw) and the other is energy (kwh). When I say 1/5 it’s capacity it refers to charging at a rate that will fill it 1/5th in an hour or fully in 5 hours. In general, higher current is lower efficiency but scales with the size of the battery when properly designed.
@NorbertNor1@Teslarati The round trip efficiency on lithium batteries is pretty good (>95%). When charging/discharging at 1/5th its capacity (200kw for a 1MWh pack) generally has a 99% efficiency. Even going AC to DC and DC back to AC is around 90% in Tesla’s power wall.
@alvianchoiri @fromVeganning @gmbankrupt These only use the urban charger form factor. They told me they shoved v3 hardware into them but they are 150kw dedicated per station instead of the full 250kw for v3.
@JHaakona I would think it is a standard megapack, so it should have 3MWh of capacity. I bet Tesla calculated the average supercharge session was 30kwh, hence the 100 cars claim. I expect the average long distance drive session would be closer to 50kwh. But serving 60 cars is still great!
@Trumpery45 @JacksonStewal @TweeterTweaker@ghost_scot From the website they say a megapack has 3MWh. It could have even more capacity since they don’t need to waste space on the DC->AC inverters as well.

@Trumpery45 @JacksonStewal @TweeterTweaker@ghost_scot These only look like urban chargers. They max at 150kw and don’t have a paired stall. This setup is good to combat surges in use like the holiday traffic this weekend.
@oha_alex@vincent13031925@elonmusk@Tesla @LivingTesla @Sofiaan It is still in development. When I talked to the guys that installed it, they seemed to indicate this would be possible, but needs new firmware to make it happen. This was the first mobile charge they made. Straight from their lab to the SLO supercharger.
@IanConaway@TeslaTested They are upgrading some superchargers with permanent installed versions of these megapacks with solar. So this is in the works!
@MikeyTiki@Tesla@elonmusk I talked to the guys that installed it. They said they take it back to charge it overnight. I asked why they don’t just plug it in to one of the stalls on site to do replenish continuously. They seemed to say this was in the works but needs some firmware updates to make work.
