New data from our partners at TakeMeHome shows strong interest in the First To Know® Syphilis Test!

TakeMeHome added the FDA marketing authorized syphilis test to its at-home testing platform. In a January 2025 LA County pilot, users ordering an OraQuick HIV test could also get a free syphilis test—unless they reported a prior diagnosis.

In just 3 months, over 850 orders were placed:
👉 81% of LA-based users expressed interest
👉 71% were eligible
👉 26% had never tested for HIV/STIs before

Notably, women were significantly more likely than men to be interested and eligible. This shows the potential of home testing to reach first-time testers and reduce barriers to care.

This is a huge step forward in expanding access and helping curb rising syphilis rates—including congenital syphilis.
