The āboringā stuff wins ballgames:
-Backing up the play
-Putting the ball in play
-Moving the runner
-Making the routine plays
-Consistent communication
-Throwing strikes
-Smart baserunning
-Taking your walks
-Getting HBP, holding your ground
-Hitting a cutoff man
-Hustling out everything
*At some point, the āboringā tasks of ā¾ļø will win extra games! And more often than not, playoff berths, seedings, playoff wins, and even championships can be determined and decided by what many would call āboring.ā
Turn the āboringā into the āimportantā and thatās how you win!

If youāre going to a showcase or camp, email early, not the day before the event. Include video with the rest of your information. Hereās why: Iām at a showcase this weekend and I have 65 emails from potential recruits. I canāt possibly evaluate all of you in a weekend. If you send video early, coaches can review it ahead of the event, and if your skills standout to them, they will prioritize YOUR games! šŖ
Coaches can tell when youāre not all in, when you:
Act above others
Make excuses
Donāt listen with your eyes/ears
Complain
Shut down when coached
Stop communicating
Think rules donāt apply to you
Skip the extra work
Pout when benched
Donāt support teammates
Play for me, not we

If you didnāt think the movie Friday Night Lights was real enough watch thisā¦
Lubbock High, Amarillo High, and Amarillo Caprock all met at a gas station to do a coin flip to see who would earn a playoff berth in the Texas High School Football
Youāre never too good for the process.
Yamamoto puts on arguably one of the greatest (if not the greatest) pitching performances in a World Series ever and still executes these quiet details.
Learning. Reflecting. Adjusting. Growing.
No matter where you are in your baseball journey - Always have a growth mindset and continue to be a student of the game.
Nobody should ever be more obsessed with your process than you.
Sorry but there are Cage Hitters and Game Hitters. Some can hit with pressure and some canāt. Exit Velo is great in the Batting Cage when the ball is coming in flat and straight, but mix in a curveball and stuff gets real!
If youāre a high school athlete who actually wants to play in college ā hereās how much time you really have:
Freshmen ā 1,350 days left
Sophomores ā 1,000 days left
Juniors ā 600 days left
Seniors ā 250 days left
Thatās it.
Every day you skip lifts⦠every rep you coast through⦠every night you choose Xbox over sleepā¦
Youāre burning days off that clock.
No one is waiting for you. No one is giving you extra time.
Build your floor. Chase your ceiling.
š„ If youāre soft, youāre selfish.
If youāre silent, youāre selfish.
If youāre stupid, youāre selfish.
Bad body language? Selfish.
Repeating the same mistake? Selfish.
Avoiding hard conversations? Selfish.
High performance is about us, not you.
So stop pouting, start communicating, and raise your standardāespecially when no oneās watching.
Because how you act off the field defines who you are on it.
Seeing so many 2027s commit in the first weekend⦠š
If Iām a 2028 or 2029, Iām looking at CAMPS.
Coaches already knew who they wanted before Sept. 1 ā and most of those relationships probably started at camps.
Recruiting STARTS before Junior Year...
š¬ To the athletes who didnāt get a September 1st call⦠this is for you.
The truth is, the majority of 2027s did not get a call on September 1st. Statistics show that fewer than 10ā15% of athletes nationwide heard from a college coach that day. That means if your phone didnāt ring, youāre standing with the overwhelming majority.
And hereās the good news: your journey is far from over.
Recruiting isnāt a one-day event. Itās a process that unfolds over monthsāand for many, years. Coaches are still figuring out their needs, and the opportunities are still out there waiting for the right athletes who are consistent, proactive, and resilient.
š September 1st isnāt the finish lineāitās just the starting gun.
š The calls you didnāt get yesterday donāt define the athlete, leader, and teammate you can be tomorrow.
š Every email you send, every rep you put in, and every game you play is another chance to be seen.
Stay locked in. Stay patient. Stay hungry.
Because the athletes who keep showing upāday after dayāare the ones who eventually get the āyes.ā
š” Your phone not ringing doesnāt mean your dream is dead. It means your story is still being written.
