We're coming to the end of the Measure RTM campaign, so here's a concluding thought.

Proponents didn't understand or didn't care to understand our opposition group.

We're NOT against transit. Speaking for myself, I have used transit since I was a little kid growing up in Queens and know its value.

For us opponents, this has been about EFFICIENCY, or more precisely, the absence of it in Bay Area Transit.

Agencies are wasting billions on overpriced expansion projects, overpaying consultants in the process.

Executive compensation is often too high and not tied to results, while employee benefits are out of line with private sector packages.

The 14-year sales tax with its fake accountability provisions will lock in the status quo, allowing agencies to largely ignore opportunities for automation.

The only way for voters to demand more careful spending of their tax dollars is to refuse to pay more.

BREAKING: NYT reports that operatives with Democratic Alaska U.S. Senate candidate Mary Peltola’s campaign were behind the effort to find & recruit a candidate named Dan Sullivan to run against incumbent GOP Senator Dan S. Sullivan in an effort to confuse voters and peel votes from him.

Specifically, NYT says they have reviewed text messages and documents that reveal in summer 2025, a Peltola staffer received instructions from campaign staffers to find as many people named Dan Sullivan in Alaska as possible.

The staffer complied, going through voter records, and compiled a list. The operation “involved secret trips to far-flung Alaskan communities and the appearance of a mysterious Midwestern operative, who traversed the state using a fake name and made his pitch to would-be candidates over beers at brew pubs.”

Per NYT:

“The plan worked. This spring, a retired teacher from a tiny fishing village along the Alaska Panhandle, reachable only by air and sea, announced his candidacy for Senate. His name was Dan J. Sullivan.”

1) Times are exaggerated. Terminal-to-terminal Arrival-to-Debarkation is estimated at ~2 hours. And that is not counting additional time needed to get from the arrival terminal to the final destination.
2) Based on current cost projections, CA will have to raise taxes on income, property, assets, and sales to complete the project.
3) There are still major unresolved engineering challenges, some of which prevent the train from even achieving high speed.
4) Assuming Californians accept the higher taxes and the engineering challenges are overcome, the construction schedule puts opening a Bay Area terminal around 2040-2043.

I used to review officer-involved shooting reports generated by a D.A. explaining the decision to exonerate officers, and recall often thinking “I mean, could that *really* be how it went down?” I suspected there may be some fog of war or selective memory or post-hoc justification to give the officer a rational justification and paint the victim in a negative, irrational light.

But with the post-2020 adoption of body cams, I now believe it all. There is no behavior too insane for a huge number of suspects when confronted with literally any command by an officer requesting some form of compliance.

Even I thought body cams would shine a light on some substantial percentage of clear officer abuse, but it’s clearly negligible, while dangerous and erratic behavior by suspects is widespread. It is impossible to overstate how wrong BLM and reform activists were on this count.

This is the difference. California relies on the honor system. If someone attests they’re a U.S. citizen, they don’t check or verify it.

All he did was ask a question the teacher didn’t like…. Other students in the class say if you mention anything that goes against this teacher’ views, she loses her mind

I found the teacher’s name is Persephone Lewis, she is no longer teaching the class. A substitute took over for the rest of this semester, however she was not fired

I went onto Cal State Sam Marcos site and found the Ethics Department. She is still employed and listed as one of their teachers
