And I will address this from the perspective of Islamic theology.

In Islamic theology, many of our anscestors will be in heaven.
Since in Islam, God did not leave any group of people without sending them prophets. The Islamic view is that God sent prophets to every corner of the earth, including to Africans.

In Islam, the essential core message of prophets was monotheism, not prayer nor alms nor pilgrimage. If we look at many African traditional religions, we will see elements of monotheism.
For example, yoruba historian Akinwunmi Ogundiran stated that the early Yorubas practiced "a form of monotheism"
Professor Sophie Oluwole also alluded one time to Yorubas having only one God, and the rest to being "Orisas"

Hence, it is not farfetched to say that God sent prophets to early Africans who taught them monotheism, and this message over years became corrupted into varying forms.

From the Islamic perspective, all our ancestors who followed this core monotheism will be in paradise.

Hence, anyone who never met Jesus or Muhammad or Moses, but was a Monotheist, will enter paradise.

Secondly, Islamic theology refers to some people as "hanifs". These are people who may not have received a prophet but used their own intellect to pursue monotheism. These people will also be in paradise.

The core of salvation in Islam is not prayer or those many rituals or rites but monotheism and righteousness.

Like Gary Wills said in one of speeches:
"The Qur'an says God's chosen people are all monotheists from the beginning of creation"
