Lion’s Head Jeep Track Reopens After Maintenance Closure

African Penguin Population Grows at Boulders Colony
Encouraging results were recorded from the latest report of the 2026 annual African penguin census conducted at the Boulders colony in Table Mountain National Park.
Using standardised, internationally recognised census methods to ensure consistency and comparability, the team recorded 790 breeding pairs of African penguins. This marks an increase of 92 breeding pairs from the 698 recorded in 2025: https://t.co/RZephrGrOw

Visitors are welcome to enjoy braais at the main picnic site in Silvermine, using the existing braai facilities. Please note that free‑standing braais are not permitted at the picnic site.

Please note that maintenance and repair work on the ablution facilities at Buffelsbay Picnic Site in the Cape of Good Hope Section of Table Mountain National Park has commenced today and will continue for t.
approximately two months. The picnic site remains open to visitors. To limit inconvenience, refurbishment will be undertaken in phased sections, ensuring that a portion of the ablution facilities always remains available.
Fire crews from Working on Fire and the City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services are on scene and actively working to contain the blaze. Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
