i don't even like myself when i don't care anymore.. making me have to close my heart out to you bc you can't be honest and love me correctly is just the biggest slap in the face and now i gotta shut you out completely and be cold when i don't want to be.. smfh
Good morning to everybody in recovery wading through a swamp of feel good catchphrase quick fix bullsh*t, trying to stay on your recovery plan in a real world that's messy & unpredictable & doesn't reduce to platitudes.
One day, one hour, one minute at a time. Let's do this.
I'm not thrilled w/ some of the coping mechanisms that got me through in the past-- & the fact that I felt shame about them made me ambivalent about the fact that they worked.
But: there comes a point where we gotta forgive ourselves for doing what we needed to do to survive.
The moment you go from "why didn't you love/protect/believe me?" to "you know what, I deserved better, f*ck you"...that moment is f*cking magic.
You'd better believe anger has an ESSENTIAL role in recovery.
so long as you’re always giving & helping, most people have no problem sucking you dry then moving on to the next person they can do they same thing to.
So it’s your responsibility to create a boundary for yourself around where, who, and how much you give or help.
