@chanoa @davepl1968 @geerlingguy I think in the end they over engineered it. Instead of just adding a new octet they decided we needed something longer and convoluted. They could have even at best stuck in at 8 bytes/64 bits but they choose to future proof in case we need 340 trillion or something addresses.
