Cifuentes places strong emphasis on the base unit, the foundation of his positional play.
As I watched the full video, I found it helpful to classify the other roles into two categories:
active units, who initiate actions and movement, and pinned units, who hold defensive line.

Cifuentes’ first preseason match has kicked off. While there’s still plenty of room for improvement in terms of team cohesion, a few aspects were quite interesting.
@truekini Sorry for the late reply
It’s a three-player structure:
•Base: (usually 1st & 2nd players) distributes the ball.
•Pinned :stretches the defense, creating space.
•Active makes forward runs to exploit that space.
Ultimately, what matters most is establishing clear principles for unit distinction within this structure and refining the details.

The second half also followed similar patterns under the same “principles,” but a few additional movements stood out and are worth noting.
This principle is also evident when the ball is quickly played wide and followed by a cross—at least three active units up front consistently position themselves in the gaps between defenders.
Unlike typical slow-tempo dominant football, Cifuentes’ buildup is much quicker—skipping defensive lines with direct passes whenever space and positioning align.
I’m truly honoured to step into the role of head coach at Leicester Football Club. It’s been a fantastic first day getting to know the squad, and I can already see so much promise in this group. Exciting times ahead. Can’t wait to get started — see you soon, Foxes! 🦊
Hello. It’s been a while!
#LCFC has gone through some tough times lately, and to be honest, my own life has been so hectic that I haven’t been able to post much content either.
According to recent reports, it seems that Cifuentes is on the verge of becoming the new manager
The third-man concept is deeply integrated into Cifuentes’ flank triangles and unit roles.
It allows his side to find dynamic attacking solutions — even when up against back-five systems — by shifting how principles are applied, rather than changing the principles themselves.
