Just a reminder: Jack Hughes, the golden goal scorer who gave @usahockey its first men's hockey gold medal in 46 years, is a New Jersey Devil.
Goodnight to Devils fans - and hockey fans - everywhere.
As a Democrat, I’ve noticed a lack of Democrats expressing pride in America today.
You don’t have to give up your political beliefs to be immensely proud to call America home. Loving your country does not equal supporting the current admin.
Don’t let MAGA own patriotism.
#USA
Hating the guys who just bled for their country to earn a gold medal because they laughed at an awkward joke the president of the country they just bled for made, after chugging 6 beers in 13 mins with dopamine flowing like water, is certainly a choice
Absolutely no one is saying “that’s out of line Mr. President” and ruining one of the coolest moments of their lives for everyone. I’m not a Trump guy but getting congratulatory call from the president, no matter who it is, after winning a gold medal at the Olympics, is a moment as American as apple pie.
These are 20-something year old kids high on life (and USA-crested Mich Ultras). No one’s making a political statement in that moment.
They laughed at an awkward joke, and if I had to guess, most of them were prob like “the fuck was that joke about?” afterwards.
Jack Hughes is an LGTBQ+ advocate. He said his first thought after scoring was Megan Keller’s OT goal. Half the boys watched the women beat Canada in the gold medal game.
But there’s a 0% chance any of them are ruining that insanely cool moment. Idc what your politics are.
And if you truly think they should’ve ruined that moment and made some sort of moral stand, imo youre just completely out to lunch and are missing the bigger picture of how big of a moment this was. Touch some grass, get off social media. Half these kids prob don’t even know the 3 branches of government.
Out of line joke the president made. Shitty joke but that’s on brand for him
But don’t turn this unbelievable moment into some social justice crusade. Just let the moment live.
You see all this news about age and ID verification for the Internet being brought about here. It's not to protect children or to make the Internet better. It's to control you, what you see, how you speak, and to handicap your ability to speak out about the enshittification of our societies and how much worse it keeps getting.
These platforms will make you provide biometric data, government IDs, credit/debit cards to prove identity so that you can access them. Right now it's places like YouTube and Spotify, tomorrow it's search engines, online databases, LLMs, etc. That way whenever you search for information or read about things inconvenient to their narratives, or whenever you participate in an online trend like demanding the government release the Epstein files, it can be inexplicably tied to you as a person.
Then all of this can be stored in a government database, conveniently like the ones Palantir have been awarded contracts to build. Where they will use artificial intelligence to combine all government databases to build complex personal profiles of every single registered person. As you use your debit cards and government IDs to check in when you look up Vault 7 or something else they'd rather you not be reading, this will be constantly noted. This way they can, with their allies in private corporations, fuck with you and disrupt your life in ways you can't comprehend yet.
Imagine a world where if you post something inflammatory to social media, your bank account gets closed. Maybe they knock your credit score down a few points and fuck your finances up. If you're a whistleblower, they take control of your vehicle from a distance and kill you. Some of this has already happened, none of it is out of the realm of possibility. Payment processors and companies like Visa/Mastercard are actively threatening platforms to prevent them from using their networks to make online transactions if they do not stop hosting content they're displeased with. Today it might be content you dislike or find appalling, tomorrow it could be your favorite stuff, though.
Suddenly when you try to use the Internet for purposes designated as "wrong" or "bad", your account is locked or your access to the servers is canned. Oh, you'll verify your ID? Weird, the verification process isn't working. Can't pick up your ID in the picture for some reason. You won't be using the Internet today.
Inevitably it gets to a point where they offer you to be microchipped or implanted with a brain-computer interface and it'll contain your ID, you can swipe your hand to make a purchase at the store, it'll have AI improvements to the human experience, it'll be marketed as cool and convenient. People will fall for it.
It sounds schizophrenic but this is the reality of the world we live in. This "random" wave of censorship has been building up for years at this point. It's all deploying simultaneously because if they get us to take the medicine now, they've cured their problem forever. It starts here and within 20 years you and your human experience is replaced entirely with technology. Your job is replaced by a humanoid robot. Your sense of agency is replaced by AI databases controlled by the U.S. federal government and a group of 1,000 ultra-wealthy CEOs. Your daily tasks are automated to a machine. Even thinking in your brain will be the byproduct of an implanted interface. Your ability to interfere with this plan or to fight back is stripped by a combined force over your head that you can't even quantify because it's basically all the companies and the government.
We're kinda in hell at this point I think.
