The symbolism in for Zayne in the 5.0 Anniversary trailer is PERFECTION:
The shattered ice heart represents when God of Annihilation Zayne sacrificed his heart for her, but also is pierced by a scythe like shadow - working for the multiple sacrifices and deaths across ZayneMC’s lives. They explicitly also refer to Dawnbreaker Zayne as a grime reaper and use Scythe’s in the imagery and explanations of his kit and as Zayne executes abominations but on a more grand scale has executed and erased entire WORLDS, he is the grand Reaper of the cosmos.

Zayne: “What shouldn’t exist ought to crumble in oblivions hands.”“Obliteration is the mercy I grant them.”
DAR flashback Zayne: “Your existence is a mistake. You must be eliminated.” (Towards MC as she is the grand variable of the universe leading to inevitable demise by incarnating.)

The heart also is love, Zayne’s position as a cardiac surgeon (scalpel imagery) and a reminder MC’s resonance comes from her heart. The sacrifice of his heart is reinforced by the scales of Judgment at his head, as he is meant to be a logical person and they explicitly use the Justitia/Themis parallel in GoA design with the eye covering and scales as a core narrative element in the myth. As Annihilation and Order incarnate he is to judge worlds and lives, but MC is his one variable that completely undoes what he was and so he thinks with his heart - not the sound logical judgement of before. They further show how his love for MC breaks him from the shackles of duty with the sun and fresh jasmines breaking through the ice, FROM the position of the heart. The jasmines represent their lives and go from being frozen to true bustling buds. The phantasmal phantom hands over the scales and Zayne could represent either what he’s meant to be and the hold of the higher gods over him, or what MC has influenced in him.

Interestingly they reinforce the triangle imagery that’s been established across Zayne content with a pyramid on the top of what is on one half of the scales - suggesting this is the Creatio Stone that Zayne traded his heart for to bring MC back - as Zayne as Annihilation whose duty it is to judge logically and erase, took the power of Creation his complete opposite for his love.

Two core words are emblazoned across the graphic = Rebirth and Annihilation.
Rebirth: Zayne GoA says “Don’t stare into the darkness, seek rebirth” and we know he canonically has the most past lives with MC with over 200,000 calculations of lifetimes in GoA myth and the innumerable jasmine field representing lives in Foreseer myth. As a principle Rebirth is both key to ZayneMC’s attempts to battle against greater fate and the decree of the universe.

Annihilation: Supreme God of Annihilation Zayne’s purpose was to execute grand order and bring the world and universe to judgment. However he diverts from his purpose and uses his powers to assist MC in every life where he is meant to watch her die or kill her. In GoA he allowed no such thing and took on the power of Creation to create a haven for her in the hopes he could finally allow her to be safe. This is not how their mutually selfless love works however as the world and path also recessed and MC was lost once more of her own volition. GoA was the life after the ZayneMC’s origin life and the first time he ever lost her, thus his desperate attempts and the great loss of his powers for her - his fall from divinity and autonomy. His origin myth will likely retain Greek influence, reinforced by the plaque with Greek lettering and End of Depths key art from the release trailer.

Despite what he is meant to do and be, Zayne states in this video: “If annihilation is an inevitable end, I’ll freeze it before it can even reach you.”

Zayne would go against every single element in the universe and fibre of his existence and purpose to halt the fabrics of reality and dimensions to let MC live. Time and time again he endeavours to save her, with a selfish wish to love her unbound.
