President Trump is sounding the alarm about a global AI race as some of the biggest names in tech warn the systems they're building could advance faster than humans can safely control them.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is calling for international coordination to help pace frontier AI development, giving safety and alignment measures more time to keep up as the technology grows more powerful. Trump says some guardrails may be needed, but warns the U.S. cannot afford to lose its edge to China.
