A few years ago I decided I wanted to go and live in Korea to experience something new in life. As I arrived in Seoul, some of my friends asked me if I wanted to go to a prerecording of a kpop variety show, but even though I had decided that I should focus on school, I still applied just for fun. I got into a Boys Planet prerecording called “artist battle” on the 25th of March 2023. I still remember that day so clearly - sitting out in the sun for hours, and the feeling of my skin getting sunburnt underneath my foundation. Feeling slightly dehydrated and dizzy, but being distracted from that when saying hello to my favorite trainees. I remember looking at trainee Zhang Hao and trainee Seok Matthew and being in awe of how sweet they seemed. I remember how the production crew changed the sets in between the performances. I remember my mouth falling open during “Over Me”, I remember smiling like a fool during “Say My Name”, I remember suddenly feeling energized after an 8-hour long shoot while watching “En Garde”, the final performance of the day. After “En Garde”, trainee Kim Gyuvin cried, and I remember telling him “I will vote A”, meaning ‘I will vote for you’ to which he said thank you. I remember thinking that he looked so sincere and scared of the future, but hopeful at the same time. I remember every Thursday that followed, sitting and watching these stages again on TV after school. I remember how my story folded into Boys Planet.

The weeks passed and I went to the Boys Planet finale at Jamsil, and laughed when they announced the ridiculous name “ZEROBASEONE”. I remember looking at trainee Sung Hanbin saying hi to everyone in between performances and thinking “You haven’t even debuted yet, but I know I want to support you”. I remember trainee Gyuvin singing “Not Alone” with the white haired, glowing trainee Ricky. I remember the announcement of the members, cheering for all of them, even trainee Han Yujin who I worried about since he was so young. I remember being happy and proud that trainee Gyuvin actually made it, and that trainee Hao got first place.

I remember being so excited for this group called Zerobaseone. I remember the chaos of the first ever airport schedule. I remember standing out in the sun for hours at the Camp Zerobaseone fanmeeting before debut. I remember playing the In Bloom music video over and over and kicking my feet. I remember being at the first ever prerecording after debut, first ever live show, first fancon, first festival, first concert, first award, first grand award, fansigns, first MC live show, first OST, first concert abroad… countless prerecordings and live shows. Countless days without sleep but still happy. Countless days laughing with friends. Those firsts turned to seconds, and then to thirds, and so on…

I remember idol Gyuvin telling me that he still remembered me telling him I will vote A for him, and then again more than a year after BP ended telling the other members that I was there during Artist Battle. I remember feeling so incredibly touched that my memories weren’t one sided…

When you spend that much time next to a group, they become intertwined in your own story, and ZB1 became the final grand love of my youth. Somehow it became easier to focus on stars gleaming far away than the earth bellow my feet, and I started floating around in a solar system with nine stars. For three years I let my story play out like this.

@gepparrd @CorporationF @songblingbling most fansites aren’t even real fans, a lot of people get mistaken calling them fans but truth is they usually don’t really care about the idol they’re a fansite of. if being a fansite of this idol doesn’t pay well enough they’ll switch to another idol. so don’t feel bad lol
