We cannot normalize this. We cannot be silent. Justice must not just be demanded, it must be pursued until it is seen. Because today it was him. Tomorrow, it could be anyone.
#Justice#EndPoliceBrutality
This is not just about one officer. This is about a system that allows this to happen over and over and over and over and over again. A system where power is abused, where accountability is rare, and where innocent lives are treated as expendable.
We talk about unemployment, about how young people are forced to hustle just to eat, to support their families, to survive in a system that gives them little to nothing. And then when they try, when they show up, when they do the little jobs they can find, they get killed for it?
Since when did suspicion become a death sentence? Since when did carrying a package justify taking a life? This wasnβt justice. This wasnβt law enforcement. This was a complete failure of humanity.
His last words were βOfficer abeg, officer abeg, Iβll carry you go where I collect the waybill from.β He was begging. He was explaining. He was willing to cooperate, and they still shot him.
How did we get here?
A young man was killed in broad daylight, shot by a police officer, because he was carrying a waybill that allegedly contained firearms. A waybill!!Something thousands of people handle every day just trying to survive. I cried watching the video.
