@being_ulti Sorry you’ve been made to feel that way!
Hopefully conversations like this and more recognizitaion for SOTG (including celebrating how we want to celebrate!) will help lead to feelings of empowerment.
@being_ulti Exactly! Everyone does have that choice! That’s the best thing about ulti, the acceptance for people’s personal choices and opinions is far beyond what you’d see in any other sport. But we can’t liken people’s choices to feeling inadequate due to their gender.
@being_ulti 2/2 I don’t know that it’s fair that you are likening not spiking the disc to other gender issues you see happening. Lots of men don’t spike the disc and I don’t see people thinking they might feel inadequate. Its all in how you’re coached and previous backgrounds
@being_ulti 1/2We learn what we’re taught. If the coaches of the male teams didn’t condone spiking you wouldn’t see it there either. In my experience spiking is more of an FU to the player you beat.. so nothing I’d ever promote to any team I coach. Once again though;
@being_ulti Maybe it comes from the fact that women don’t feel the need to spike the disc to celebrate an awesome catch. It’s ok to celebrate differently without making it a gender issue.
@gsc_1957 maybe the answer to your questions isn’t people giving up parts of coverage, but encouraging insurance providers to only offer flexible plans that allow people to move unused funds from one category to another? Don’t benefit shame people. Provide something better.
@ParticipACTION Still on track! Success found through identifying potential issues, and having plans to combat them. Also through accountability partners and the fact that this is the first year I've set realistic, measurable goals!
