So here’s something that just hit me hard,
and that too very pleasantly.
In Norway, getting groceries means driving to the “buttik” - sometimes in -10°C weather - just to grab 1 litre of milk. That’s normal life in one of the most “advanced” countries in the world.
Last night I landed back in India. Today I opened Zepto and Blinkit, linked my Amazon Pay, and ordered mangoes, shower gel, sanitiser, toothpaste, vegetables, fruits, milk, and a bunch of other essentials - 12 items in total. I tried this on both apps delivered everything to my apartment in less than 9 minutes. 😊
12 items. Under 9 minutes. To my door.
I sat there and just laughed, honestly. Because we Indians complain about India all the time - the traffic, the chaos, the noise. But we don’t realize what we already have until we leave and come back.
No one in the “developed” world has this. Not Norway, not anywhere I’ve been. This kind of convenience, this kind of hustle, this kind of “I want it now and I’ll have it now" -
that’s India. 🙌
So to every Indian who keeps comparing us down - go drive in the snow for milk first. Then tell me we don’t have it good. 🇮🇳🧡
I really need America to adopt gelato culture, because what do you mean it’s almost 2 o’clock and I can’t just pop out for an afternoon ice cream in New York City without it seeming weird
what a horrible, horrible thing to say. i work with very smart people many of whom are former teachers and just needed a career pivot because the classroom is hard to work in. but ok
Tracy Morgan says he “can’t stand teachers” because “they have a limit... that’s all they’re ever going to be.”

i love milling around aimlessly in grocery stories i just spent 30 minutes in whole foods and left with a bag of gummy fish, scallops, fancy pasta, and 3 bananas. i already had plenty of food at home i just wanted to get the sale on the last day and have some fun
Thats a horribly inefficient waste of time. You probably end up spending close to 5 hours just in grocery stores every week if you do this (nevermind the extra hours spent walking there and back as well), when you add up shopping+waiting in line. I'd rather just do 2-3 weeks worth of shopping at once in <2hours, drive my groceries right to my front door, and then not have to go to a store again for a few weeks
There's a reason no one who gets a license ever uses public transit or walks anywhere ever again if they dont have to - its way worse in every way.
Society should be more accommodating to cars, not less. Bike lanes for example, should be illegal
AI can now make you a great parent.
Introducing Ollie: the world’s first AI family assistant that manages your family life better than any human.
Here’s how it works:
tipping discourse is so tired bc european servers get paid better as a base bc menu prices are higher (to compensate for higher labor costs)
but the ceiling for pay for american restaurant workers is much higher depending on where you work, also because of tips. so who cares
If it was matcha, the person would def include a brief history of how he was inspired by japanese culture when creating it. But because its from SEA, a culture thats always been gentrified, they felt they didnt need to do so.
no hate no shame but it takes 15-30 minutes to put some veggies under an oven or to cook a marinated piece of meat. boil your broccoli. steam your brussel sprouts. like what r we doing here
This is bc they do not have the time or capacity to create home cooked meals. It’s an issue countless ppl have tried to raise w leftists but big leftists online continue to shame/abuse poor ppl for being forced to rely on these services for meals, which act as a tax on the poor
Personally don't think this is something to be proud of. A few years ago, I interview a Los Angeles woman who made these types of dresses. She got paid 15 cents per dress and slept in the corner of a kitchen. When you get these "deals," consider who else is paying.
shout out to the person on here who said the best life advice they ever got was to over communicate with your supervisor at work. that shit actually works.
@ChrisMonan no—she’s crying because her husband is the one who disapproves and it’s a huge break from the person she understood him to be; strongly recommend watching the movie
