Charli xcx built our current pop landscape—now she has to live in it.
@charli_xcx's seventh album ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ is a raw, gloomy account of post-fame burnout, trading club classicism for digitally altered rock and underground indietronica.
Is she a mainstream icon or an underground pioneer? A sincere pop scribe or a manipulative trickster? In his review of the record, @eli_enis argues that Charli's reason for refusing to pick a side is that she’s all of the above.

So glad someone finally wrote this piece. This is NOT about singling anyone out. Influencers make interesting and entertaining content…I love so much of their work! But there is a time and a place for everything. And the red carpet is not it.
Red carpet reporting is a tough job and a specialized craft. To do it well (and to make it look easy) requires preparation, skill and quite frankly, years of experience.
This award season proved why red carpets should be left to entertainment journalists and studied hosts.
For anyone who loves the red carpet (and grew up watching it like myself), this is a must-read from @Variety’s Dan D’Addario @DPD_ https://t.co/ZdvA45JAKG
