"I still don't think we should have been demolished. We had a court order. We did everything legal..."

I appreciate big name pundits wants to act like surrogates for PGMOL. But timing is everything. Coming at the story a week late, blaming Arsenal & Arteta (like fan rage only occurred after we'd seen the presser), after the decision has been overturned is the weakest of sauce.
Address the problem: Is this sort of sloppy decision-making good for the Premier League product?
No need to focus on the byproduct of disastrous decisions. Just focus on the thing that is most important to everyone. Exciting games, officiated fairly, with consistent application of the rules.
Let's move on from talking about emotions and start an productive conversation on how to fix problems that have gone on far too long.
Some ideas:
1. Start an new elite referees company. Hire the very best names from around the world.
2. Spin VAR off into a separate org and hire for the skills of that role (vs making it a sub-division of refs)
3. Bring in independent auditors and compliance officers to monitor performance - and investigate referees making non-compliant decisions. Also have them look at consistentdata anomalies and ask questions about them... and act.
4. Address compensation. Pay bigger salaries. Reward independently assessed elite performance. With higher pay comes more accountability and more competition for the role.
5. Refocus the organization. Make the mission a fairer Premier League. Create a culture that rewards good decisions. Work towards the goal of refs not being household names. Stop trying to improve the org by getting better PR.
When you put pressure on implementing ideas that make that game better - the only question then is whether PGMOL are for or against improvement.
