Punekars are set to march on Sunday, September 6, 2026, to protest against the deafening noise of DJ and loudspeaker setups during the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival. Organized by the 'Punekar Against Loudspeaker' forum, the protest rally is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM from Balgandharva Rangamandir Chowk. The march will proceed via the Jhansi ki Rani statue and culminate at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) building. The protestors are demanding strict control over high-decibel noise pollution, effective implementation of existing sound regulation rules, immediate action against violators, and the right to a peaceful environment. The movement has gained widespread momentum following social activist Vidyanand Bapat's recent public opposition to loud DJ systems, which has provided a broad platform for citizens' concerns ahead of the festive season.

JUST IN | Karnataka is set to establish a new Department of Global Investment and Overseas Affairs to handle foreign delegations arriving with investment proposals.
