I’m represented pro bono. I’m a liberal. The only firm that was willing to fight against what happened to me is a conservative firebrand. And I am very, very happy that they have supported me. Unlike the very community that I have worked alongside for many years. Go look for your buddy on TNF website? He still featured?
I spent 20+ years in the outdoor industry—most recently with Outdoor Research—designing elite gear for top military units and wildland firefighters. Then I was fired over a DEI-driven controversy involving a The North Face-sponsored athlete—despite doing absolutely nothing wrong

The athlete admitted it. I was cleared. But The North Face protected its image while I lost my career. This is what happens when truth is ignored for branding. I’m speaking out—for myself and every pro destroyed by performative corporate “progress.” #JusticeForTalbot#DEIBacklash
The Tyranny of Cancel Culture: Johnathan Talbot's Fight for Justice
Introduction
In the summer of 2023, Johnathan Talbot, a dedicated professional in the outdoor industry, became the latest victim of the ruthless cancel culture that has taken hold of our society. This article exposes the injustice he faced, the devastating impact on his life, and the dangerous power wielded by social media influencers to destroy careers without due process.
The Incident
On June 20th, 2023, in Bozeman, MT, Johnathan Talbot was publicly and falsely accused of racism by Manoah Ainuu, a professional climber associated with The North Face. This baseless accusation arose from Johnathan's involvement in a Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) committee for Mystery Ranch Backpacks (Military Division), where he sought to contribute positively to the cause of equality. Instead, his good intentions were twisted into a weapon against him.
Despite a thorough investigation by his employer, Outdoor Research, which found no evidence to support the accusations, Johnathan was not spared. He was removed from his position, not because of any wrongdoing, but to protect the company's brand from the mob mentality that has become all too common.
