This is what happened at Kent County Council a couple of weeks ago. The Reform administration insisted that the meeting should end with the national anthem, and so opposition Cllrs obliged by insisting that they sing every verse 😂 In the end they got pissed off and cut the feed.

The little snake at the heart of British politics.

Isabel Oakeshott has built quite a record:

1. Matt Hancock trusted her with his private messages. She admitted breaking their NDA and handed more than 100,000 of them to a newspaper.

2. She helped publish the unproven “Piggate” story about David Cameron - then acknowledged that its source might have been “slightly deranged.”

3. She worked with Vicky Pryce to expose Chris Huhne. Their private emails later became evidence in the criminal case that sent Pryce and Huhne to prison. Oakeshott was not charged.

4. She co-wrote Arron Banks’s Brexit book, then became central to the release of emails revealing that his contacts with Russian officials were more extensive than previously acknowledged.

Today, she comments on British politics while engaged to Reform UK’s Richard Tice - a journalist sleeping beside the story she is supposed to be examining.

Hancock trusted her. Cameron was targeted by her. Pryce confided in her. Banks opened his files to her.

Just imagine what Isabel Oakeshott must know about Richard Tice and Reform.

And imagine what happens when she decides that publishing it is suddenly “in the public interest.”

Follow the story. I’ll find the turning point.

This is an absolute delight to listen to, and worth 5 minutes of anyone's time. A 94-year-old Clacton resident schools Reform UK Cllr Justin Jay out canvassing for Farage. Jay is not the brightest, claiming Farage is paying the £250k election costs, which of course is a lie.

🍺 Tim Martin argued Brexit would make Britain more prosperous and competitive.

Today, Wetherspoons is issuing its fourth profit warning in seven months, citing rising costs squeezing margins.

Northern Ireland offers an interesting comparison. Its economy has generally performed better than GB since Brexit, helped by its unique access to both the UK internal market and the EU Single Market.

Its hospitality sector still faces high UK costs and must compete with the Republic of Ireland, where the hospitality VAT rate is much lower.

Brexit was sold as making British businesses more competitive. The results suggest it’s worth asking whether those promises have been fulfilled.

The 3-day week lasted 3 months, not a whole decade. There were not endless strikes. Your memory is not as good as you seem to think. Utilty bills, rates and rents were affordable, we had student grants not unmanagable loans, bus replacement services at w/ends very rare.
