Situation Update: Ledger can confirm that one of the impacted users’ devices contained an unauthorized hardware implant. Ledger is reaching out to impacted users as part of the ongoing investigation. If you have information regarding the investigation, please reach out to Ledger’s bounty program: [email protected]. As a measure of precaution CryptoBilis confirmed it has ceased sales of all hardware wallet inventory until the investigation is concluded. Ledger is in active communication with CryptoBilis on next steps.
Ledger is working with the appropriate authorities to bring the bad actors to justice, and thanks @SEAL_911 for their collaborative support on the investigation. We have no indication that Ledger’s security infrastructure, systems or services have been compromised. As a reminder, Ledger recommends users who purchased a Ledger device from this reseller to not initiate set up if they have not yet done so. Lost $5,000,000 today from ledger “hack”
While i definitely feel bad for you
Why would you cheap out an extra “$50 and get your ledger from a third party
You’re trying to secure $5m not $10k
Why not pay for a ledger from the official site?
One security tip.
When you buy a hardware wallet (or download a new software wallet), leave it for a couple of weeks before moving any meaningful amount of funds to it.
And follow the news in those weeks (and after), for hacks, etc. Hardware can be tempered with, software official website can be hacked. Self custody comes with extra responsibilities.

HOLY SHIT
Ledger users are getting drained with reported losses reaching $90M+
First Coldcard and now Ledger... crypto users are getting hit from every side
My spy-implanted ledger came from Malaysia, and had flawless shrink wrap. Even opening it, at first you don't see the implant which is cleverly hidden where the screen's padding is supposed to be.
Follow Ledger's guidance to check yours: https://t.co/FlOjWvqkZw
BREAKING: Mark Karpelès found a hidden SIM card inside a tampered Ledger hardware wallet.
"The implant was cleverly hidden where the screen's padding is supposed to be."
The device is allegedly linked to reseller 'CryptoBilis'.

Buying a hardware wallet from an third party reseller is like a diabetic buying a used needle to check their blood sugar. It's plain stupid
Potentially quicker shipping and saving a few bucks is not worth risking buying a modified device
ALWAYS. BUY. DIRECT. FROM. MANUFACTURER.

lost $5M today.
and the worst part is that i did everything “right.”
no leverage. no memecoin. no gambling.
i kept my funds on a hardware wallet, exactly like we’re all told to. today @Ledger confirmed they’re investigating reports of lost funds.
i checked my balance three times before i believed it.
some of you remember my $20M gambling loss. that one hurt, but i could look in the mirror and say i chose it.
this time i chose safety. and it still wasn’t enough.
i’ve been sitting here for hours. i haven’t eaten. i haven’t opened a single chart. i don’t even know what i’m feeling yet.
what i do know is this: if you use a ledger, check their official channels and make sure your assets are safe before you do anything else.
idk what comes next. but i’m not done.
