How is it that the newspaper gave more recognition to the students lives that were lost than the University did? It’s things like this that need to change. #TalkBlue https://t.co/Gb1Pywy5O1
It took three months for one of the suicide victims to be publically named and honored in a Kentucky Kernel article, and not by the president of our University, but by a local organization. The fact that the community cared more to share about the suicide victims is disheartening
We must abandon the lack of communication that you as the President of the University of Kentucky are portraying towards serious mental health issues. We deserved more than an email when two of our fellow students committed suicide.
We must abandon tired stereotypes about seeking professional assistance in a time of crisis; commit to discussing the sources of anxiety, sadness, and fear in our midst; and endorse the campus resources designed to foster healing and resilience. https://t.co/8eRNsWAZVF
There is more to worry about on college campus than wondering if a star basketball player will be able to play in the next game. UK should put more effort into getting mental health across campus as they do of letting us know PJ was eligible to play. #talkblue@UKYpres
@UKYpres maybe instead of spending 2.3 billions of dollars on construction we can get presenters who have struggled with mental health to come and talk to the students. #talkblue@UKSAB
Student suicides are affecting universities across the country and not just the @universityofky. Silence does not always mean a lack of communication. Simple but powerful gestures such as these are easy ways that @UKYpres can acknowledge mental health crises in a public setting.
How satisfied are you with the @UKYpres' level of communication with the UK community regarding the mental health events (i.e. student suicides) that occur on campus?
"Colleges and universities must be prepared to address the psychological impact of suicides on other students, as well as on teachers and staff."

With mental health increases, the result in ADHD, anxiety, and panic attacks have gone up. "This examination of a variety of MH issues can aid college health professionals to engage institutional stakeholders regarding the resources needed to support college students’ MH."
Allowing enough time for 2 suicides to occur, then stripping away the individuality of those 2 students. That’s how the president addresses the issue. We need more. #TalkBlue
Reasons like these are why, we as students of the University of Kentucky, are advocating for @UKYpres to initiate conversations regarding mental health issue among the UK community, instead of waiting to the last minute possible to issue a vague email #TalkBlue
“Almost 73 percent of students living with a mental health condition experienced a mental health crisis on campus. Yet, 34.2 percent reported that their college did not know about their crisis.”#talkblue

The students deserve to hear the names of those who passed from the president of their school, not the newspaper #talkblue@UKYpres

“A 2018 World Health Organization survey of 14,000 students across the globe found that one in three college freshmen reported dealing with mental health disorders in the years leading up to college” #talkblue
