Positively absurd take.
If this were the case - why are there NO STCs in favor of this rule? Not one I know thinks this should be implemented.
While we’re at it, let’s ban shifts / motions on offense and disguising coverages on defense. Those are meant to confuse as well.
There most certainly is a compelling reason. Kicking teams had become extremely creative with formations in order to confuse the receiving team with respect to who may or may not be eligible, i.e., who needed to be covered in case of a fake punt.
There was an unfair advantage that is now significantly reduced or eliminated.
Fundamental principle of the rules: Start the play fairly for both sides of the ball.
How does this make the game better for players, coaches, officials or the fan experience?
Still don’t understand how a major rule change of this magnitude is passed without the support of the coaches most significantly affected.
Special teams forces you to coach the whole roster.
Offense.
Defense.
Specialists.
Chris Hewitt joins @HarbaughCoach to explain why that background matters.
You teach offensive players how to tackle and defensive players how to block.
You get 11 different roles working toward one job.
That is why great special teams coaches are some of the best coaches on staff.
#Titans ST coach John Fassel said he aspires to be a head coach but acknowledged how most lists consist of OC and DCs. But Fassel added how ST coaches can be as close to a HC as possible because of situational awareness, touching the whole roster.
Playing Jammer IS NOT like playing cornerback.
Gunners aren’t running comebacks or slants- put your Jammers in the best position possible to defend the ‘routes’ gunners will run against them.

Appreciate @CoachKGrabowski putting this out!
It's difficult to self scout STs - doing it effectively and in a easily digestiable way for your players gives you a definitive edge in adjusting as the season goes on and in the offseason!
