Follow us for updates on what we are learning and general details on our teaching experiences. - From Sigrid and Natalie 4th year Pre service teachers (Primary)
Just found out our new placement school ! We will both be completing our placement at the same school. Sigrid will be with year 4 students and Natalie will be with year 2 students. Keep a lookout for our placement updates as of November. #talkingwithsigridandnatalie
Working with year 3/4 students on joint construction. A fantastic learning experience, becoming more familiar with narritive writing as a text type. #literacywithkathy#talkingwithsigridandnatalie
@attard_c You got me addicted to temple run too! Although my first love is still Tiny Tower. One of my PSTs used it for a lesson on number lines. How much further to deliver this person to their floor? @MattSextonACU@talkingaboutte1
Really fun mathematics game! We had the freedom of recording our data in anyway we liked. A great game for data representation and interpretation.

Learning how to use ICT and iPad apps appropriately in the mathematical classroom. Discussion focus: What mathematics is present in these applications and how can we create engaging and meaningful learning experiences from this ? #mathswithMatt@MattSextonACU
@attard_c Great workshop with amazing PSTs! Lots of discussion about using app as a “tool” to engage & act as a gateway to explore number, location, data, and measurement tasks...always focusing on “What maths ideas do we want the children to learn and how will they work mathematically?”
When answering our algebraic thinking we followed a framework by @MattSextonACU and @jillbrown_AUS. This framework encourages students to answer algerbraic questions in many ways, supporting multiple learning styles. We really enjoyed working this way
Algebraic thinking activities! We had a lot of fun answering this growing pattern question. Here are some of our working and the questions we were answering. #mathswithmatt#tat@MattSextonACU
In this weeks tutorial we learnt about a new Thinking Routine called Compass Talk . We used this routine to explore our understanding of Digital Literacy in small groups. #DigitalLiteracy
Now, we are reflecting on our practice using the games thinking about “What worked well” and “Even better if” but we putting ourselves in the shoes of the students - what would they say about our teaching practice?

Working in the classroom with some fantastic year 5/6 students. Exploring Number sense, fluency building activities and students knowledge of Multiples. This was a fantastic learning experience, for us and the students as we linked Maths to a positive game experience. #Mathsweek
In week 5 , we learnt how to use Decipipes. Decipipes are a really good way to help students visualise Decimal Fractions, as they are concrete materials that don't have ties to whole number thinking. We found the materials easy to use and lots of fun. #mathswithMatt#ACU
