@BarryKiefl@twitandrewking I remember that one! Used to go there when I was a kid. Lived a couple of blocks up on Knightsbridge. Always a butterscotch sundae!
@twitandrewking Saw my first movie with friends (no adults) there. I was 11 and the movie was American Graffiti. Grew up in the neighbourhood - it sure has changed.
@mchkzn I have fond memories of my grandmother taking me to the malt shop when I was a kid in the ‘70’s - as a special treat. It was the first thing I thought of when I heard they were closing The Bay.
@mchkzn It’s kind of sad. I used to work at that mall when I was a teenager in the ‘80s - and before Christmas, the mall used to be packed. Lineups at Towers, the Independent Grocery store, Just Curious and Drug City ( where I worked).
@mchkzn Always loved that stone house. My father built the house on the left in 1971. Original plan didn’t have the room over the garage. Before that it was one of the few empty lots left in the neighbourhood.
@XboxKaneda@twitandrewking Loved the Brittania drive-in! Spent my teenage years there. The best were the long weekend dusk to dawn marathons. Bring you blankets and snacks and watch back to back movies all night.
@mchkzn I remember watching Sue Johanson’s show on TV. She was very matter of fact.
I ‘m also old enough to remember Sunday Night Sex Show with Sue on The Bear. But that was a different Sue. It was Sue MacGarvie - a local Ottawa sex therapist. Also very good.
@boomottawa@dylanblackradio@hydroottawa McKellar Heights/Glabar park - out since 7pm yesterday. The hydro outage map - does not have an estimated restoration time as of yet. We lose power every time there is an incident. Last time it was for over a week.
@mchkzn If I remember correctly - the tiki bar was called the Beachcomber. Spent many Friday nights there in the late ‘80s. My father was a firefighter and he hated that I went there - said it was a firetrap - walls were covered in grass cloth and bamboo.
