@chi_urbanist i dunno exactly where you’d put it, but i always figured it would be handy to have a ring line so you didn’t have to transfer through the loop
shin godzilla is an interesting case. not fully a monster movie or really a political thriller. something like a bureaucratic procedural? really it’s about the process of decision making in disaster response. it’s good. i’d like to see more.
@PhilmFreak great film, i love carver too. after watching it i think i finally got why people sometimes call altman a cynic. it has such a low estimation of people, all the characters are so so often so awful to each other.
it is rightly pointed out that the film is largely about how institutionalization imprisoned our heroes minds, the moment of the two men getting a glimpse of freedom and returning for their friends can be read in this light, but i think it’s also the ultimate act of selflessness
le trou is a damn fine film. becker makes digging through a concrete floor with a steel bar about the most cinematic thing i’ve ever seen. makes me wish i was in a french prison with manu, monseigneur and the boys
giving bleeding edge a try, so far it’s not working for me feels a bit like a parody of his style, but i’m sticking with it, i’m sure ruggles has some tricks up his sleeve.
@StatisticUrban it’s more democratic, mass-produced prefabricated concrete apartment buildings allowed for the rapid rebuilding of societies after the war.
