The apostle Paul wrote, “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11 NLT). As believers, we must take his warning to heart. The reality is that we don’t always stand firm against the devil’s strategies. In fact, there are times when we play into them. We put ourselves in vulnerable positions. We make it easy for the devil to tempt us.

The book of Hebrews warns about the perils of spiritually turning away. Hebrews 3:12 tells us, “Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God” (NLT). Notice this verse doesn’t address unbelievers. Rather, it’s a warning specifically for Christians. The passage continues, “You must warn each other every day, while it is still ‘today,’ so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ” (verses 13–14 NLT).

Did you catch that? You will “share in all that belongs to Christ”—if you are faithful to the end. In other words, you need to cross the finish line.

How can you be faithful to the end in your walk with Christ?

When I first read Narnia with my son he was five. When we hit that line, "There I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name" he interrupted the reading and asked with excitement,

"Wait, Aslan is here but goes by another name?!"

I responded, "That is what it says!"

He asked, "who is it!?"

I said, "Think about what Aslan does in Narnia. Who does that on Earth?"

Almost panicked, his eyes darted back and forth in thought for almost 20 seconds.

Then he GASPED like a masters student getting their third theater degree and said, "Jesus!" and then punched the air a few dozen times.
