I talked a dad who told me he spent $10k a year on travel baseball between tourneys, travel, and gear for his son. He got a partial scholarship to D-2 school. If he had put the $10k in a mutual fund each year, he would have had about $190,000. The scholarship was $5k a year.

Playing 3 games a week during the High School season is perfect.

Then summer hits and suddenly it’s 5-6 games in 3 days… sometimes even 3 games on last day.

Way too many games. Players are exhausted, breaking down, and injuries start piling up.

College Football used to be great each Saturday with each game meaning so much. Now it’s so watered down regular season upsets just don’t matter=Boring regular season like college hoops.

One trend I am noticing...the SAME people who never wanted a 4 team playoff are the SAME people who didn't want a 12 team playoff. And now those SAME people are pounding the table against expansion. Even tho the 12 team playoff has been a MASSIVE success they don't admit it!!!

just to watch their son walk 4 times.

Do this instead:

Pay a local kid $20 to throw to your son for an hour instead.

He’ll probably get more development from that than another travel ball weekend.

We sadly see this all the time and the kid goes D1, plays a hand full of minutes and then drops the next year to where they should have been to start….

And for what?
So your parents can tell people at a dinner party?
6-7% of HS athletes even GET the opportunity to play in college IF you even get the chance to play at the next level...GO where you can play four more years.
THATS what matters.
