Maphorisa has been dragged before and has never served anyone with papers. He gets called a Nigerian and instantly makes a call to his lawyers. Kore o rile βngekeβ to being called Nigerian. π
These guys burnt Putco buses, with the clear intention being to put them in financial distress and lay the groundwork for an offer to buy them out. In all this, thousands of workers in those areas were left stranded. This is economic treason, man!
When Uganda and Kenya decided to construct the EACOP, activists sabotaged it that Uganda ended up switching the route to Tanzania.
When Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia launched the $24 billion LAPSSET project in 2012, environmental activists didn't wait long enough.
Ethiopia fought the same sabotage throughout the construction of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam till its completion.
Besides lack of funding, construction of 11,000MW Inga 3 dam in DRC is facing the same pressure.
The same activists and others that don't appreciate development and growth are up against the refinery in Lamu that could shape East Africa.
Africa doesn't need permission from anyone for its growth.
When Olusegun Obasanjo was democratically elected as President, he went on a State Visit to India with a large delegation as is usual with Nigerians. The delegation were politicians & fraudsters & petty businessmen. In the business meeting in India, on the other side was the Indian Prime Minister & dollar billionaires. On this side was President Obasanjo & zero billionaire! It is then that he decided he was going to deliberately create a dollar billionaire in every sector in Nigeria. Ii is when Nigeria reduced its banks from hundreds to few big banks. And it is when dollar billionaires arose in Nigeria: all without exception with Obasanjo deliberate intervention.
The rest is History!
Tribalism is the oldest trick in African politics. When leaders fail to deliver, they remind you which tribe you belong to and convince you that your neighbour is the enemy.
Happening in most of Africa. When BIG deals are announced supposedly to benefit the State the terms are rather opaque.
The Citizens (shareholders) are in the dark of how the deal is structured.
Dangote was in Kenya in 2020. He wanted to invest about a Trillion in Manufacturing of Cement. Rumour is that Munene referred him to Murathe, to Muhoho and to other two Waziris. He was asked to wekelea 20% of the amount as a preliquisite. And thereafter cede 30% Shareholding to Muhoho. He left without a goodbye. He moved to TZ. Dangote confirmed it yesterday during an interview with Citizen tv. Today they are claiming that they are the ones who brought Dangote to Kenya. Imagine if all foreign investors have been undergoing the same process for the last 20 years, we have lost a lot.
