i believe the more you practice the presence of God, the calmer you become. i think it’s also because waiting on Him requires a certain level of stillness, and stillness brings a kind of death to self that begins to affect every area of your life.

I had this openly sociopathic acquaintance for a while in my twenties, and I still recall his offhand remarks.
eg: “It’s not that I’m surprised that all you non-sociopaths want to seem like upright citizens, but I’m surprised you all care so much and are still so terrible at it”
No matter how heartbreaking people can be, I still find myself often extending graces and giving chances. Even on the days I say I’m done, I still check the sky. Hope is a habit I haven’t figured out how to break.
