Data centres use PFAS, "forever chemicals", in cooling systems and fire suppression. In 2024, the EPA determined there is no safe level of exposure to PFAS. Some are classified as carcinogenic by the WHO. They are linked to kidney and testicular cancers, thyroid disease, immune disruption. They do not break down. There is no specific PFAS standard in UK Water Quality Regulations. Operators are not required to register with a regulator. There is no mandatory water use reporting for data centres
Scotland pays more for power than rest of the UK. We generate more renewables than the rest of the UK. And now we’re getting hit with a £70 BILLION cost to connect power produced in Scotland to be sent to England. Indy NOW.
A teacher told us about global warming in 1988 when Margaret Thatcher warned about it.
He said it was scary but they’d fix it by the time we grew up.
It’s quite stressful that they didn’t.

Reform is proposing the deportation of 2 million people - including people legally here.
"Politically it feels quite clever doesn't it," says Trevor Phillips, and leads a discussion that revolves entirely around whether it is affordable and practical.
These are people who sweep our streets, look after disabled people, keep the care sector functioning. People who work incredibly hard and are invariably very badly paid. People who have families, lives, hopes, dreams. Without whom the economy simply wouldn't function.
This country has arrived at an appalling place.
Alan Milburn is on #bbclaurak today
As @SolHughesWriter wrote in this article on Milburn from 2022: "Almost 2 decades ago he was the pro PFI health secretary, now he & his family trouser millions from his consultancy work for private healthcare interests"

The recently published Covid Inquiry Module 3 report clearly states that:
“In the short-term [until all hospitals can be equipped with effective ventilation systems], the use of HEPA filters should be PRIORITISED within healthcare across the UK.”

NOW ON A 1.1 MILLION VIEWS. Are you listening @Keir_Starmer?
More than 3,200 lawyers including 300 top barristers and retired judges have called on you to drop your plan to restrict the right to trial by jury.
30 organisations representing victims of violence against women and girls have written to the Justice Secretary urging him against curtailing the right to jury trials.
Trial by jury is a cornerstone of our democracy and an essential safeguard against authoritarianism. The government has no mandate to restrict it - a move which will put us on a path toward authoritarian justice.
It’s not too late for you to listen to the thousands of voices of victims, judges, barristers, other legal professionals and academics who oppose this.
Please now do the right thing and abandon this blatant act of constitutional vandalism.

Revealed: Palantir’s NHS tech is ten times slower than current system
NHS leaders privately told that “clunky” £330m platform built by Trump donor Peter Thiel’s firm is “slow” and has “poor user experience”, new documents show

So we have:
▪️NHS guidance that forbids hospital-wide air-con
▪️hospitals relying solely on natural ventilation
▪️windows that can’t open more than 100mm.
Patients & staff deserve better.
As a bare minimum, the govt MUST urgently prioritise air filters for overheated wards.

We don't want these data centres in the UK either!! If I'm not mistaken tho, Starmer has okayed some with these Tec companies, spinning jobs etc, and not doing any checks on what damage they cause 🤷♂️
The Doctors Association UK continues to raise its concerns over plans for a new single patient record

This is a picture of Tony Blair and his son , who as it turns out just happens to have a company that will be paid £ 100 billion to develop and monitor .....DIGITAL I.Ds !! Another bonus for Blair himself is that he holds £ 375 million worth in shares in that company ! No wonder that digital ID is being pushed on us !

Dear Sir Lindsay,
Helen Whately is misleading the House. No one EVER got a Motability car for tennis elbow or acne. She presents no evidence because there is none. She is lying to whip up hatred of disabled people. Please refer her to the Privileges Committee.
A record drop in waiting lists is being sold as success, but much of it comes from patients being removed, not treated.
A&E is still in crisis with corridor care and long delays, while persistent staffing shortages continue to strain the system.
That is not fixing the NHS.
Sorry, but this is just not good enough
People have had it with politicians telling us we can’t do what 90% of the countries in the world do - run water in public ownership
This is an issue that tells the public who you’re prepared to fight for: US-private equity giants OR the British public.
UK freeports were just the beginning.
AI Growth Zones — a newer addition to the lexicon, are designated areas where planning rules for data centres and AI infrastructure are fast-tracked, where the usual consultation processes are compressed or bypassed, where the normal friction of democratic oversight is treated as an obstacle to be engineered around.
