3/ Putin has always been more concerned about the loss of control over Russia’s perceived sphere of influence than about a NATO threat to Russia. Putin’s actual issue with NATO and the West has been that they offered an alternative path to countries that Putin thought fell in Russia’s self-declared sphere of influence. I agree the "Asian" category is way too broad. I also think you're oversimplifying an extremely complex system of discrimination (eg, Latino is still not recognized as a racial category)
