I find it very strange that up until 2019, the EU turned away thousands of refugees fleeing the Syrian war and violence in the middle east but have just granted nearly 1 million Ukrainian refugees the right to live within its borders for 3 YEARS. I'm not saying #racism but...
And of course, all of this happens invisibly because we collectively believe social mobility is the norm in North America, not the exception. We justify this by putting the blame on an individual's life choices rather than the privileges they may have had. 12/12
This inequality persists over generations, with parents passing down the same social standing to their children. (And vice versa if you were born into a wealthy family with privilege.) 11/12
