@MarcusLuther6 This is an old post, but I'm getting ready to teach Born a Crime for the first time (yayyy) and I would LOVE to know more about how you approach your unit!
@MarcusLuther6 Yes this makes complete sense! Our units right now are VERY text driven and not skill/writing driven. I'm trying to change that but it’s a struggle! My students LOVED the octopi/iceberg lessons last week, but now I'm supposed to ride that wave into puritanical texts? Yikes. Pass.
@MarcusLuther6 What advice do you have for unit planning as a team? I love the structure of your lessons, but am curious what that looks like over the scope of a unit. For context, I teach honors 11th (Pre/AP Lit and American Lit).
@Dmoceanu@Simone_Biles I remember idolizing you and the rest of this team, but I would never want this level of abuse and carelessness for my own daughter. Amazing how we can still learn valuable lessons about worth, dignity, and compassion. You deserved so much better, and I’m sorry you did not get it
"Trickle down economics has never worked. We must grow this economy from the bottom up and out."
It's like the end of Reaganism finally showing up.
Millennials never had the chance to get brainwashed by it.

I hope Biden mentions fighting White Supremacy; just to watch the GOP try to applaud even less than they did for cutting childhood poverty.

My abiding hope—my abiding prayer—is that we emerge from this ordeal with a new wisdom.
To cherish simple moments.
To imagine new possibilities.
And to open our hearts just a little more to one another.
I have one message to members of Congress who amplified lies to undermine our democracy, encouraged an attack on our Capitol, and tried to overturn our election:
Resign.
If your lust for power exceeds your dedication to democracy, there is simply no place for you in Congress.
Impeachment is about accountability, not unity. The unity comes after accountability, deep reconciliation, and hard work, not before.
Reminds me exactly why we say no justice, no peace.
At this point, I don’t see how the House doesn’t impeach. Take the vote, throw it in Mitch’s lap, and let the Senate Republicans decide that they want to protect the guy who sent a violent mob to their Chamber.
The amazing thing about "it might have been antifa" is that Trump literally summoned these people to DC, spoke at their event, offered to walk them over to the Capitol and then praised them afterward.
