@TRE_320 With a 96% rejection rate for fatigue reports, most of your company would have to, to get over the fact that they are working with all I want is touchdown
@jagritichandra@DudeWhoFly I’d never take advice from a boomer, they all just are sad. I’d rather be a mediocre line pilot with a loving family than this, and also have hobbies. Flying is not and cannot be peoples lives. Come on.
@samarknowsit@jagritichandra Where was their AEP displayed? Pic needs to be notified since he is not a king but responsible whenever he signs the ARC for the people and the plane? When you don’t know, don’t talk.
I’m so done with North India. Someone please help me relocate to South India. 😭
The professionalism, sincerity and work ethic I’ve experienced down South are on a completely different level, and, honestly, I find them sorely lacking here. And I say this having lived across the country.
Time zones are crazy. It's 11 AM in New York, 3 AM in New Zealand, and somehow 1920 AD in India, where women are protesting for the right to roam freely on the roads.
If an airline has such policies for its pilots,it is not at all “6E”
IT IS A SICK AIRLINE that is UNSAFE AND UNFIT to carry fare paying passengers.
Negatives for pilots
Two days of sick leave are cut when a pilot takes one. The 20/21 June example takes an extra day just to keep the pilot "free". That is a penalty for falling ill.
A pilot who calls in sick is put straight onto standby, starting as early as 0400 (Example 3). He is still recovering, yet must be ready to fly at any hour.
The pilot must log into iCrew on the last day of sickness and then "accept any duty" during the standby right after. There is no recovery buffer at all.
The company's own "duty start after sick leave" rule (4.8.3) is switched off in the layover case. The one protection that exists is removed exactly when it matters.
The whole burden of extending sick leave sits on the pilot, by email or phone, even if he is in hospital.
Where it clashes with law and regulation
Aircraft Rules and ICAO Annex 1 say a pilot must not fly when he knows his fitness has dropped. DGCA's fatigue rules (CAR Section 7, Series J) say an operator cannot make a crew member operate when unfit. Asking a sick pilot to be on standby, ready to fly, works against that.
A 0400 standby sits in the window of circadian low (0200–0600). Putting a recovering pilot there defeats the intent of the 2024 FDTL revision.
A certificate is required when unfit outside home base, but the note demands a doctor at a NABH-accredited hospital. NABH is an Indian body. On a foreign layover, or in many small Indian stations, this is impossible to comply with.
The certificate must state the diagnosis. That is health data. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 the company needs a clear purpose and consent. The Medical Council's conduct rules and the Mental Healthcare Act 2017 also protect confidentiality. A roster office does not need to know the diagnosis, only "unfit from/to".
Verification by the company doctor" puts a company employee, not a DGCA approved independent medical examiner, in the position of judging a pilot's illness. Fitness decisions belong to the pilot and the DGCA medical system, not the employer.
Safety dangers
The rules make reporting sick expensive and difficult. A certificate is demanded for a late sick call (within four hours), for sickness after duty starts, and for any illness outside base. These are exactly the moments when a pilot most needs to say "I'm not fit". The natural result: pilots fly sick.
This is the opposite of a "just culture", which DGCA and ICAO expect operators to build. A rule that punishes honest sick reporting is a rule that hides risk until an incident exposes it.
@Daedalusflew Indian flying culture itself is very negative. No amount of shouting will ever cause your trainee to do better, negative training at its peak. CRM starts from the top. Even if you’re a de taking a check
Even after multiple posts from MPs, ex-chief ministers, politicians and journalists, this goon is still roaming free.
@DelhiPolice is not able to arrest him from his home in Ghaziabad.
This is how the Modi government shelters the goons
This foul rabid animal named Satyam Pandit needs to be picked up by @DelhiPolice asap & booked. Else we file an FIR - please Gopal Sankaranarayan do attend..
What a shame!
The world watches democracy in India being broken by force, shamelessly.
Even peaceful protests for students against an incompetent minister are not tolerated anymore.
New Police commissioner appointed yesterday because the old one denied to follow illegal orders from BJP office!!!
Delhi police is hiding behind the high court judgment which asked to take care of Sonam's health.
@manishasinghal As a pilot who constantly Dh’s I’ve given up on people not shoving their ass in my face, a new low happened when a man’s bag dropped on my head and he blamed me for sitting while the seatbelt signs were still on. (Was in civil clothes)
Heard on RT yesterday
ATC- Etihad xxx report POB
Etihad xxx - We have 14 crew and 29 Pax
ATC- Confirm 229 Pax?
Etihad xxx - No only 29
Boeing 787-9 with 300+ seats has only 29 pax which means only 10% seats . On the lighter note one Cabin crew had only 2 pax to serve.
This is the fallout of #IranWar
