TMC candidate of Mamta fraction withdrew the nomination at the last moment under threat or big bundle offer from BJP Government and the line opposition Congress candidate was abducted and later on known as under a charge in 2007. This is a message I received from someone whose mother works as an Anganwadi worker in Madhya Pradesh. She says women have been “ordered” to gather today, light a diya to “celebrate” Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, and even record videos praising him and his government’s schemes, with “action” threatened for non-compliance.

Now just think about the indignity of this.

If BJP governments had spent this energy addressing the actual problems Anganwadi workers face—poor pay (5,000 to 10,000 rupees), crushing workloads, vacancies, no social security or healthcare, and centres functioning out of crumbling buildings, then perhaps these women wouldn’t need to be “ordered” to praise anyone.

If a government has genuinely transformed their lives, their gratitude will come naturally.

But today, these governments are focussed on manufacturing gratitude for the PM with elaborate and coercive PR activities!

A few days, I had tweeted that 10% of the ADULT population has been deleted from the Electoral rolls

The position is actually worse

Thanks to an article by Rahul Shastri and Yogendra Yadav in a newspaper today, it is found:

That in Phase I of SIR, of the adult population of 821 lakhs, 65.1 lakhs were deleted

In Phase II, of the adult population of 51.60 crore, 6.5 crore were deleted

In Phase III, out of the adult population of 35.5 crore, 6.1 crore were deleted

The percentages of deletion are
7. 9, 12. 6 and 17. 18 per cent respectively

The Constitution says that every adult citizen (above age 18) is a voter. But ECI is apparently above the Constitution

They have converted 13,30,00,000 citizens into non-voting citizens!

The overall deletions amount to 14% !

One out of seven adults is a
non-voter !

Airtel is offering internet services across the country. From our experience in Jangpura New Delhi, I can safely say that they are conning people into buying high speed internet when they normally supply very low speed internet on that connection. When you make a complaint, they will speed up the internet for a short while, and then it comes back to its low speed. Their service is also very poor. Seems we will have to change our connections and service provider.
