Probably the most important question a leader needs to answer is, how clearly do you hear God? You only get to pull the God card a couple of times before your team stops trusting your relationship with the Lord. In other words, if you say to the team, โI had a dream last night and the Lord spoke to me about taking the hill!โ Then, consequently, you are unable to take the hill; soon your team stops trusting that you hear from the Lord, and they will become weary of your โprophetic declarations. I have written several books on hearing the voice of God, so the subject is vast, but let me give you 6- things I have learned about prophetically directing a team.
1- Hear God with the team, not just for the team. In other words, seek the Lord together for prophetic words with your leadership team .
2- Look for patterns of prophetic confirmation, in the principle of agreement. Jesus demonstrated this when he proclaimed, โโฆif two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 18:19) I understand that the subject here is not prophecy, but the principle is still relevant. Thus, if a few trusted leaders are getting the same thing from the Lord, then I would put more weight in that plan and direction.
3- Develop a culture of fallibility by judging and testing prophetic words, dreams and promptings etc. The Apostle Paul instructed us to, โLet two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment.โ (1Corinthians 14:29) Nobody on the team should be viewed, honored or treated as if they are infallible in their ability to discern the word of the Lord. Everyone, no matter how experienced or insightful, they are, is fallible!
4- When the steaks are high, bring in other trusted, accurate prophetic voices from outside your organization, who have no conflict of interest; and seek their prophetic insight into your situation. I prefer, that you donโt tell them anything about your situation, so they arenโt tempted to be swayed by the teamโs perception or the circumstances of your business.
5- The greater the risk the clearer the prophetic words need to be. Be wise in the timing of the implementation of strategic, prophetic plan. James said it best, โIf any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (James 1:5-8) Itโs important that once you come to an agree, that you move forward in faith, and not allow doubt to derail your confidence when resistance or complications arise. The truth is, every great endeavor will be met with resistance by some, and also complications, difficulties, and obstacles. Yet, you need wisdom as well as prophetic direction to fulfill your divine assignment.
6- Do an excellent job communicating with those who are being led by the team, of the prophetic direction thatโs been embraced by the leadership. Take them through your prophetic journey so that they can understand your confidence in the direction you have chosen. Let them process with you; sharing their concerns, fears and confirmations, so that they also have buy in. Itโs important that they feel heard, and valued even if they are not fully on-board. Encourage those who are struggling with the direction the team is committed too, to seek the Lord for themselves, and get back to you.
What Jason Kelce just said on broadcast is exactly what itโs like being a Mountaineer. There is just such a different culture than anywhere else. People outside of Boone donโt get why there is such a deep passion for App State athletics. I couldnโt be prouder to be an App grad.
Look at who made it to The Rock for @AppState_FB todayโฆ @JasonKelce.
He took a pic w/some of our students before the game.
Kelce says since the @Chiefs are in CLT to play the @Panthers Sunday, he wanted to come up and support Western North Carolina after the hurricane. #NFL
I can speak to why people are not being let up to chimney rock. There is a massive effort to redirect the river back into the river bed this is talking a huge amount of materials being delivered up the narrow road and the longer it stays out the more buildings are put at risk. Also a lot of the stores are also not boarded up. @WallStreetApes@rawsalerts@nicksortor@MarioNawfal
Tomorrow is day 14 of Helene recovery. Our city of 100 Thousand still has no municipal water and 47% have no power. Cell service is still 0-2 bars LTE. Many outlying areas have none of these things. Schools closed indefinitely. So many lives lost, so many survived but lost everything. But what I will say, Iโm proud of local Christians, those who have given from afar, and those who have come to help. The pandemic pulled us apart, this crisis has brought us together. Please pray for those who feel forgotten or hopeless. We are hearing of a rash of people who are taking their lives. Pray we can declare and demonstrate the hope of the gospel!
