@ejuline Are the tickets still available? I’ve been lucky enough to make it to all three England group games so far, and I booked a day flight from NJ to ATL for the day tomorrow seeking a reasonably priced ticket .
This breaks my heart.
A mother details how she just wants to be a stay-at-home mother and take care of her family—rather than working in the corporate world.
Young women, listen up!!
Pay $150/hour so your kid can pass in a straight line on perfect turf with zero pressure. No volleys, no bad bounces, no real technique. But at least the cones are set up nicely. Development? Nah. Just keep paying and they’ll keep smiling.
@jc_playmakerWNY I agree, with so many clubs splitting GA/MLS or ECNL, it feels like we’re heading toward gender-specific environments across the board. That shift brings pros and cons for sure.
REAL TALK!! Read it and know it!
Real teammates won’t just cheer you on—they’ll call you out. 💯
Real coaches? They’ll do whatever it takes to bring the best out of you. They have that energy to do it!!! Because energy never ever lies!!! Read that and know it!! Energy never lies!!!
They won’t let you coast.
They won’t let you slack.
Not in training.
Not on game day.
EVERY. SINGLE. SESSION. EVERY. SINGLE. GAME.
You might not always like those coaches...
But in the end you’ll RESPECT them.
Because those are the ones who push you to become the absolute BEST version of yourself. 💪
No excuses. Just standards.
@jc_playmakerWNY @TheECNL It starts with identifying what a club really is. Is it a true development environment with a clear philosophy, qualified coaches, and accountability? Or is it just a business model in disguise? Too many “clubs” today are just brands with no standards behind them.
If you're going to spend time with a private trainer - have it be for the most DIFFICULT technical skills. Long balls, volleys, first touch, finishing, 1v1 attacking, crossing etc.
Anyone who is having you do ladder drills for an hour is stealing your money
@ImCollegeSoccer Once our kid hit 12/U13 we told him you have conversations with your coaches if you have questions or concerns. It was/is often imperfect, but we’re in the business of raising adults. No one loves hard conversations, that’s why it’s so important to practice having them.
If only this was in the US. Instead we have u11s playing 11v11 and boasting about it and leagues that mandate playing 11v11 at u12 for one spring season. Please make development make sense lol
Here’s the #1 reason nothing before U15 matters.
No one can predict or control what happens to a player due to puberty.
Many times, the best young players prior to U15 aren’t the best players U16 and older.
Meanwhile in the US we have an environment of “top teams” and clubs selling parents on teams playing 11v11 sooner as a positive for their son or daughters development at 10 and 11 years old.
i have such complicated feelings about women coaches coming back to the sidelines so soon after giving birth
i hate it
and i get it
and i hate that i get it
and i admire them
and i'm inspired
and i'm terrified of the message it sends
and i support them
and i hate it
and i get it
This may be the thread that cracks US Youth Soccer. These are not shared publicly.
I will do my absolute best to explain all the issues/problems that I see through my eyes of doing youth soccer for 10-years.
+ my solutions.
I have worked with every age from 2 to pro players.
