@CeciliaPoonPhD Love your thoughts added to @SammyWinemaker post. Let’s unravel this even more and somehow begin to imagine how to promote or even recognize both worth & value of any human who properly cares for another human. It’s way underrated & underpaid. #priceless

@SammyWinemaker My view, as both a caregiver & clinician, is that there is limited to no value placed in the “being” there for folks only in the “doing” things to them for profit (testing etc.) Meaning, so little investment resides in being present & listening anymore.

@SammyWinemaker Time & time again, let’s rush them out inappropriately only to have them come right back and start all over again. It’s an awful, broken, viscous cycle. Missing the big picture thinking scope, merely focusing on they are back to baseline (or close enough) and discharge worthy.

@bmadams_7 I’m so sorry, wrapping you in hugs. I had to make the same decision for my mother 2 years ago. As a nurse, as a daughter & as a human being I commend you for making this difficult choice. It’s truly the final act of love, be gentle with yourself ❤️‍🩹

@BenWThompson One of the biggest reasons I had to leave the hospital setting. Referrals by some specialties were not only met with hesitancy but yet resistance and there’s no changing that mindset. Seen as a last resort vs a useful resource to assist with supportive care & decision making.
