@kiwiwayne2 I'm all for working hard (which is did) but I bought my first house in my mid 20's while being the sole provider for my family (with no help from anyone). Is that generally possible now? No it's not. The reason is the rampant comodification of housing.
@NZNationalParty Great that you are against more tax, BUT the younger generations have a legitimate reason to feel let down by the rest of us. We commodified the family home! Boomer rent seekers simultaneously inflated prices and restricted supply.
@NZNationalParty People who buy rental property are dicks. They could invest in productive businesses but instead choose to build a toll both on a choke point of need. Then they vote for policy that makes building new houses really expensive. It usury and short sighted.
@Bridgetpee Holiday homes are just homes. You shouldn't tax those. That said if property speculation is a business that you are engaging in then you should be taxed on that income just like all business. Side note... if your business is residential property speculation you are a coward.
