Keir Starmer claims Nigel Farage is to blame for the boat people because Brexit took us out of the Dublin Convention (in 2020), which allowed us to return asylum seekers to the EU countries from whence they came.
The PM is either ignorant of the facts — or knowingly lying. Neither is a good look.
The Dublin Convention was a two-way street for asylum seekers. Yes, we could try to return them. But others could also be returned to us.
As a result the Dublin Agreement actually made us a net recipient of asylum seekers.
Take 2018. We made 5,500 requests for asylum seekers to be returned. Only 209 transfers were agreed. In the same year, under the same convention we accepted 1,215 asylum seekers. So we were net recipients by over 1,000. The Dublin Convention did nothing to make it easier to return asylum seekers.
Nearly all politicians are cavalier with the truth when it suits them. But Starmer is taking this to a new level.
Its been 36 hours and STILL 10 million Brits are embarrasing me on social media with fake tears about words. Trump has done ZERO harm to British veterans, ever. He spoke clumsily while criticizing NATO, a gigantic demonstrably corrupt intergovernmental military alliance. And that's it. British MPs have been dead set against me and mine for decades. Spitting in our faces, siding with the enemy, overtly with Sinn Fein and the IRA, covertly with RoE that benefitted the enemy and hamstrung their own warfighters.
The brass in the Royal Navy and British MPs killed Dave Marsh and Lt Thornton when I was in Afghanistan, I said it then, and I'm saying it again now. I was there when that first chopper went down in Iraq when we invaded too, and I remember them sending an angry letter to Ian Seymour's widow, demanding money back because they accidently paid his wages till the end of the month, but he died on March 21st. British MPs kill our veterans with both malice and neglect, they kill them by sending them to war under-trained and badly equipped, and if they happen to live through it, the British state prosecutes OUR soldiers, siding with ambulance chasing Guardian-reading lawyers and terrorists.
And rest assured, they are coming for the Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans next, be sure of that.
British lawyers and MPs have treated veterans worse than dogs for decades, hounding them with the law, ruining their health, and leaving them destitute in the streets, while happily housing Jihadis.. I could go on about it all fucking week, not with fake tears about "the families" when the real problem is not the words, but the loss. A loss caused by Labour and Conservative MPs, and Bush and Cheney and Blair, not Donald Trump and JD Vance. The problem isn't one sentence uttered by a foreign head of state, its BRITISH POLITICIANS, and the woke media, who are playing a political game because they are terrified of Reform and they want to tie it all to Farage. And despite all of the above, all the death and misery the British state has heaped onto salt of the earth British soldiers for YEARS, millions of you are upset, at Trump. Why? Well, because he clumsily slagged off NATO without ever mentioning individual soldiers or ever critizing the boots on the ground, 12 years after British combat ops in Afghanistan ended. Then best of all, the people that despise the white working classes that make up the backbone of the British military, like the BBC and Starmer and The Guardian and even the likes of Emily Thornberry and red in tooth and claw activists like fucking Paul Mason, pointed you at Trump and said "Its HIS fault we have fucked you for forty years!" and you lapped it up like it was a half melted pint of Ben & Jerry's. What a bunch of fucking saps!
I'm not angry at President Trump, but tonight I despise a few million of my own countrymen.
The public for being dumb enough to be led by the nose by the worst scum we can muster as a nation.. and the political classes for their boundless appetitite for brazen treachery! 😡😡 https://t.co/kSODfEB2Ph
I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace.
None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.
We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal.
We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for this.
Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive.
Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it in any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees, and I truly hope it will work effectively.
